Press Release: The Impact Project Launches New Tool To Track Federal Offices and Congressional Budget Negotiations

Map details over 28,000 government offices and FY 2026 budget proposals

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Today, The Impact Project launched a new interactive map and new dashboards pinpointing more than 28,000 federal offices nationwide. As Congress turns to Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 funding, the map overlays the latest budget proposals from the President and the House of Representatives, providing timely, accessible insights as the debate unfolds. These tools will be updated continuously as negotiations progress.

“The Impact Project helps people assess how government decisions shape their communities,” said Abby André, Executive Director of The Impact Project. “This new tool brings together essential data on federal offices and proposed budgets so local leaders, nonprofits, and businesses can make informed decisions.”

The Impact Project is a data-driven research initiative that makes government data more transparent, accessible, and actionable, providing the foundation to reimagine how government, private industry, and civil society can better work together to build more resilient communities. This launch builds on The Impact Project’s existing tools, which have tracked nationwide changes to federal funding and the federal workforce since January, compiling more than 750,000 data points and over 1,000 testimonials.

The Impact Project’s first tool, The Impact Map, is an interactive platform that aggregates and analyzes data from government databases, research institutions, public reporting, and testimonials, and visualizes how shifts in policy, funding, and workforce decisions impact local communities.

The Impact Project is the only platform providing real-time, community-level government change data and impact analysis at this scale, and is on track to develop the most comprehensive dataset on government change to ever exist. At a time of sweeping change, The Impact Project provides journalists, nonprofits, state and local governments, and a range of businesses and investors with data they need to understand the localized impacts of government change and inform their decisions, including resource allocation.
