Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is a division of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The role of AHRQ is to improve both the quality and safety of the delivery of healthcare. It conducts and supports research for health services and patient safety, providing tools and data to help patients, healthcare workers, and policymakers make informed decisions. These evidence-based tools are used nationwide to improve the quality of healthcare in America. For example, in 2023, The Alabama Cardiovascular Cooperative was given a $1.3 million grant to support cardiovascular risk reduction in primary care.

This agency has been impacted by cuts in staff and funding in 2025.
